Hacker Care

Welcome to Hacker Care™, a site to help hackers/makers/entrepreneurs find and purchase the least expensive insurance available. We do the research and negotiate the lowest possible rates because you have better things to do!

This is a beta site. We just quit our jobs to do something more exciting and we needed health insurance. We are looking for people like us to make this thing work and to provide affordable health care to all who are self-employed. Please take a moment, sign up, provide us with your contact information and answer a few basic questions about yourself.

Another happy hacker who doesn't have to worry about insurance!

We will work to find insurance for anyone...

What We do

This site is run by hackers, when we started our own businesses, all we wanted to do was to work on projects for our clients and ourselves. Once we started rolling, we learned that there was a bunch of annoying stuff that kept us from doing what we wanted. Insurance, payroll, contracts for partners and customers, accounting and bill paying are some of the most annoying tasks that took up too much time. Please take a moment to let us know which of these tasks you would like to get off of your plate.

How Will the Affordable Care Act Affect You?

You have the option to skip buying health insurance and take on the risk of illness and injury. You're probably healthy and so it might be a risk worth taking, especially if cash is tight.

The Affordable Care Act was designed to make sure that all Americans have access to health insurance. To ensure that the total pool is large enough, the government requires that healthy single Americans, who choose not to buy health insurance, will be taxed beginning in 2014.

The tax starts at $95 in 2014 and will reach $625 by 2016. So it might make sense to look more closely at buying health insurance, especially by 2016 when it starts to get expensive!

We stay up to date with the latest news, regulations and insurance rate changes so that you don't have to.
